Our Program
We provide state-of-the-art treatment to patients with advanced conditions of the liver. Our surgeons regularly perform liver resection, or removal of a portion of the liver, most often to remove a malignant tumor.
We treat benign tumors of the liver, such as cyst, adenoma and hemangioma, through liver resection (removing a damaged portion of the liver). We perform laparoscopic surgery on benign tumors when appropriate.
Keck Medicine of USC surgeons perform liver transplants on patients with end-stage liver disease, such as those caused by cirrhosis and Hepatitis B and C. We also perform liver resections on people willing to donate part of their liver to a loved one. Visit our Live Donor Liver Transplant page to learn more about this groundbreaking treatment.
Our Approach
Our multidisciplinary team carefully evaluates each patient before providing care to ensure the best method of treatment is applied. We work collaboratively with hepatologists, oncologists and radiologists to diagnose and effectively manage liver cancer and other hepatobiliary conditions, developing a custom treatment plan for each patient’s unique needs.
Through our Liver Disease Program, Keck Medicine at USC treats liver conditions through a variety of methods, including surgery, transplantation and other cutting-edge procedures. No matter what your liver issue may be, our surgeons work to treat you with the appropriate course of action, using the most innovative techniques available.
