Breast Reconstruction

Breast Reconstruction

USC Surgery / Treatments / Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is a surgery to rebuild one or both breasts following a mastectomy or lumpectomy, or to bring the breasts to regular shape and form from congenital deformities. The surgery is often done in stages and can begin immediately following a mastectomy or lumpectomy, or can be delayed. Reconstruction can be done with an implant or tissue flap, the latter of which involves taking tissue from elsewhere in the body to reconstruct the breast.
