Keck Medicine of USC’s surgery program stands at the forefront of groundbreaking new methods and technology. Under the leadership of world-renowned surgeon Vaughn A. Starnes, MD, we have incorporated such pioneering techniques as robot-assisted surgery and minimally invasive techniques to ensure our patients get the best possible outcomes from their surgical procedures.
We have a proven track record of successfully treating patients in a variety of essential fields of surgery, from liver surgery to plastic and reconstructive surgery. Keck Medicine of USC surgeons have performed more than 29,000 open heart surgeries since 2002. Our surgeons also have performed more than 10,000 surgeries for diseases of the lungs, esophagus and chest wall. In addition, Keck Medicine of USC performs more robotic surgeries than any other medical enterprise in the Los Angeles metro area, with more than 200 robot-assisted procedures performed since 2011.
From our comprehensive vascular surgery program to our internationally recognized colorectal surgery program, our team-based approach involves surgeons working directly with physicians from other departments as well as nurses and administrative staff to keep patients informed and supported every step of the way.
